Self

Take away my rusty crown,

I am the king of lost causes.

Take away my burden,

I'm the weak beast that can't say no.

Take away my muse,

My lyrics are sorrowful.

Take away my riches,

I'm of a poor character.

Take away my clothes,

I want to be covered in my own skin.

Take my voice away,

Let my actions speak for me

Take! Take!! Take it all!!!

Let me live a life by myself.

Muyiwa Deji Otitoju writes poetry and prose. His works are from the experiences of life, his beliefs, fantasies, the norms and abnormalities of life. Muyiwa also likes to think that his works feel and speak in the voice of the reader — It’s mostly poetry of bare humanness.
